The instrument is used to determine the penetration of a cone or a needle in bitumen, greases and waxes.
The penetrometer consist of an aluminium base with adjustable height, a stainelss steel column that support the calibrated dial with 360 division corresponding to 1/10 of millimeter for penetration up to 720.
On the base there is a timer and a release button connected to a low voltage solenoid, a magnifying glass and a check light.
